As I first got to know the laifain project, I was very happy to learn that someone has finally decided to offer a new way of doing tourism in South Tyrol. I’ve been living in South Tyrol for a long time now and I love it, although sometimes I don´t agree with the things happening here. For instance, I don’t like the rather one-dimensional view of the region fueled by either the tourists or the South Tyroleans themselves.
Tourism is a delicate matter in South Tyrol, considering that it has brought a lot of prosperity and has made the region more attractive worldwide. However, it is also fair to say that it has contributed to some of the issues currently affecting this region. I believe that the time has come to talk openly and honestly about overtourism and how to switch to a model that can really benefit the region and its people. It’s this very reason that convinced me to get involved with laifain. In fact, sustainability is at the core of my professional as well as private life, and I find the laifain blog to be an ideal place to promote a more sustainable tourism.
Another thing that I really enjoyed while getting to know laifain is the enthusiasm of the people behind it. They really work hard to involve many local partners. Sharing is caring.
The laifain experiences bring you to the special places and people of South Tyrol. You can learn about the region at a deeper level. You get to meet the locals, hear their stories, and see a South Tyrol off the beaten path. Spending a holiday like this is definitely worth it. Here’s my first tip for when you come to South Tyrol: try out something new and choose to discover our region with a laifain experience! Follow me to read more about laifain and other exciting topics.
